Maria Waggoner to Purdue

Waggoner will join the Philosophy Department at Purdue in the Fall of 2023

Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology PhD student Maria Waggoner has accepted a job offer from Purdue University.  She will join the Department of Philosophy in the Fall of 2023 as an Assistant Professor.  Maria works on a number of topics in ethics and moral psychology, including virtue cultivation, the alleged unity of the virtues, the nature of moral understanding, moral testimony, and moral perception.  Her publications include "The Focus of Virtue: Attending Broadening in Empirically-Informed Accounts of Virtue Cultivation" (Synthese, 2021) and "Situationism, Moral Improvement, and Moral Responsibility" (with John Doris and Manuel Vargas) (Oxford Handbook of Moral Psychology, 2022).  Congratulations, Maria!
