Fannie Bialek (Religion and Politics) and Kit Wellman (Philosophy) discussed the ethics of defensive violence, the moral and political functions of protest, and more.
The Civil Society Initiative held its first Dinner & Dialogue event on March 20th at the Danforth University Center. Allan Hazlett (Philosophy) moderated a discussion between Fannie Bialek (Religion and Politics) and Kit Wellman (Philosophy) on the topic of whether violent political protest is ever justified. The Dinner & Dialogue series, which includes five events scheduled for March and April and which will include three election-themed events in the Fall of 2024, will feature panel discussions designed to model open and constructive debate about moral and political questions -- along with a catered dinner from Balkan Treat Box, Taco Buddha, and other local vendors.
