Janella Baxter is a philosopher and historian of science.
Her research aims to understand the nature of technology and engineering as it relates to explanation and experimentation in the life sciences. She has held several postdoctoral research positions at Centers for Philosophy of Science located at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Minnesota. While at the University of Minnesota, she was part of the research grant "From Biological Practice to Scientific Metaphysics" (http://biological-practice-to-metaphysics.org/). Recently, she and several colleagues started an interdisciplinary network for philosophers, historians, and social scientists working at the intersection of biology and engineering (https://www.bioengcoll.org/).
